Just beware, this model seems to be a dog. Tried re-charging and nothing.

Since Tom-Tom is notoriously easy to use, I decided to get a replacement and opted for the 330-s XL because of the voice/text feature and larger display size. I owned a Tom-Tom One when they first came out and it was great--lasted two years and then just died.

I used it twice in 6 months and recently went to use it and it won't power on. I used it twice and it was defunct in a bit over 30 days.

Amazon was gracious enough to ship me another. The Tom-Tom website is pretty useless and all they could offer was to recharge it and perform a "soft reset" which is basically holding the on-button for 15 seconds.

Very disappointing performance for Tom-Tom

It was slow to back up and slow to download. A couple important steps for that(after downloading the TomTom Home software to your computer) are to (1) backup your device using the Home software and (2) on your computer in the Home software click Tools > Use Latest Map Guarantee.

It was hard to find instructions. They're available on the TomTom web site, but can be hard to locate.

I bought this as a gift and just finished setting it up. Then, I got the updated map for free.

In order to get the free latest map version within three days, you need to follow these instructions: [.].First I downloaded the TomTom Home software and entered my email address and password to set up an account, when prompted. It automatically checked for updates and I allowed those to be installed.

This process took a couple hours at least. (Note that I did not have to delete anything in order for the new map to fit in internal memory - perhaps the backup process took care of that).But all looks well.The TomTom web site has good help guides if you're willing to keep digging to find the ones you need: [.].

Have not even owned this 1 month and already have had to send it back (TomTom DID NOT pay for shipping and it still does not work. Would not buy again. My cheaper Garmin never has given me a problem.

I waited for exact instructions from tech support, for installing the updated map. There is no sd card slot for added memory space. I bought this without listening to the other reviews. Again it failed every time. You cannot download the new map, without removing the old one first. Then the problem arose; The new map download from Tom Tom failed every time; I was on with tech support for days, until I ordered a replacement. They assumed it was my computers fault, but I sent it back for a refund, and bought the Garmin nuvi260w, updated it's map, and WOW it worked the first time.So it clearly was not my computer, but a software problem with Tom Tom themselves. ( PLUS THE GARMIN HAS A SD MEMORY SLOT FOR ADDED APPS, AND OTHER STUFF AVAILABLE) Sorry, but Tom Tom dropped the ball on this one.

The operators manual left something to be desired. It worked out of the box. Received this unit faster than expected and the price paid was very competitive. Most information can be found on the Tom Tom web site. Downloaded the map updates right away to make sure the transfer worked. No problem with updates. Tried it out on long and short trip. Works as advertised.
